Managing channels

What are channels?

Channels are origins of interactions with your visitors, leads and customers.

Online: when visitors access certain web properties such as landing pages, input forms, web pages, the channel represents the place they came from. E.g. facebook, adwords...
Off-line: when you had a call with your customer, the channel would be the type of interaction. E.g. Meeting, phone call.

Channels are actively managed in journy.io. For interactions with journy.io to be recorded and represented in a dashboard, you must define a jouny.io channel, by referral URL, by UTM parameter pair (utm_source and utm_medium). E.g. if you want someone coming from facebook (URL: www.facebook.com or URL: m.facebook.com or URL: lm.facebook.com or utm_source=facebook or utm_source=face_book) to be recorded into one single channel, you must define that one channel and fill in the correct settings.

If journy.io encounters an unknown referral url or utm paramter pair, the admin users will be notified and through the auto-detect page allowed to add the new parameter into either a new channel, either an existing one...

Channels are grouped into channel groups for future querying.
